May 2016 Fishing Report – Tofino British Columbia
April started off with a bang! High numbers of Chinook salmon averaging 8-12 pounds were caught with rec chrome flashers and UV anchovies trolling the bottom.
May began slow, and the salmon were not as hungry as they were for what the guides were offering them. That being said, with the tides relaxing now we have seen some good days scattered throughout the back half of the month. Chinook averaging 12-18 pounds are biting trolling bottom to as high as 90 feet on the riggers.
The last days of May into June are boasting solid numbers with the odd fish breaking the 20-25-pound mark, while bottom fishing has stayed strong with halibut pushing 30 pounds on average and Ling cod biting frequently as well.
With peak season fast approaching we’re excited to be getting out on the water and seeing what the summer has in store for us! WardoWest is ready!
